Gaming

Games i’ve either enjoyed recently (and would suggest) or ones i’m currently playing. Green border is currently playing.

MMORPG

Do you like collecting achievements? Do you want to put together a shiny outfit? Do you enjoy challenging combat? If you’d like a pretty solid, helpful community with a twist of map-wide boss action, GuildWars 2 might be for you. It’s probably one of the best implementations of world/pvp combat, mounts and exploration i’ve ever seen in an MMO. There are free-to-play accounts to give it a test drive!

Available on Windows

Action Adventure

This is really an action-adventure game, even if it feels a little childlike. It’s super-cute and light, for such a dark themed, action packed, combat game. I completely enjoyed the story and character progression. Also, the Rots are, of course, adorable and you get to earn them cute outfits to boot!

Available on Windows (Epic Games) Playstation (4 & 5)

Action RPG

The popular 2k franchise shines through again, this one is really well done. As usual, the game is all about super-fun and satisfying combat, lots of guns, special ability combos and an all-around blast to play. And the story…. So good! If you’re a gamer, you know this franchise and this one definitely doesn’t disappoint.

Available on Windows (Epic Games) Playstation (4 & 5), XBOX One & Series X

While pretty grindy, the combat is super satisfying. I enjoyed the battle armor changing, which helps add in new combat techniques, and makes it feel less of a grind. If you enjoy beautiful graphics and working out combat scenarios, this is a great choice.

Puzzle – RTS

This one isn’t new (Release 2013) but it took me awhile to get both the switch and the game. Pikmin 3 is just a lot of fun and a relaxing (mostly) type of puzzle game and falls right into the real-time strategy category. I haven’t finished it yet, it’s one of those pick-up and play when you feel the urge sort of games.

Available on Nintendo Wii and Switch

Real Life Simulator

Some would say this one is a guilty pleasure, or maybe most would, if your not a 12 year old girl. Regardless, Animal Crossing – New Horizons (and it’s expansion Happy Home Paradise) is just fun. I originally bought it just for my wife, but got sucked into the virtual beach life. One, which in theory sounds like a good time, but i would never actually want to live.
