a reflection connection

Most of these writings are word salad, i know, my wife tells me this all the time. It’s a jumble of reflecting narratives that loop back onto themselves and i’ll have you know, it’s intentionally unavoidable. The following has been reinterpreted often, but it is an understanding that you actually couldn’t truly “know”.

The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.

From Tao Te Ching

So, here is a pretty basic experiment that might help you “get it”. The experience of a mirror, the one way reflection of near perfect duplicity or “spooky action at a distance“.

If you look into the reflection, and suspend the idea that some independent particular “thing” is occurring (i.e. light is bouncing of a reflective surface type stuff) you might notice a few things.

  • The reflection is only one way, inverted. Not flipped 180 and inverted.
  • The reflection is “in-time” or synched.
  • The reflection doesn’t occupy the same space.
  • The reflection occurs regardless of other stuff that happens (dimming of light, adding more mirrors, etc.)
  • Like all experiences, it’s direct.

While i don’t expect you to make connections, you should know this type of experience happens throughout all senses, including thought, touch, taste, smell, sound and so on. Keep examining! But don’t assume anything about equal reactions, there’s no requirement there. An echo doesn’t need to carry the same weight, for example. We don’t equally feel presence of another, not in a kiss or touch, or a vision. The telephone game you might have played as a child is good example of how we pass down near perfect reflection in thought, sound, translation and so on, so much so that it devolves into a different meaning/understanding. That’s a general understanding of reality, amore’.
